Nano Carbon Grounding Flat Strip

Saint Ni Lightning Protection manufactures corrosion-resistant grounding materials for power, renewable energy, chemical, and infrastructure projects. The Nano Carbon Grounding Flat Strip uses galvanized flat steel as the internal conductive and structural core, combined with a high-density nano-carbon conductive anti-corrosion coating on the surface.

The galvanized steel core provides mechanical strength and carries fault and lightning currents, while the outer coating isolates the buried conductor from acidic, alkaline, saline, and chloride-containing soil. Its flat cross-section provides a relatively large contact area with surrounding soil, making it suitable for horizontal grounding networks, main grounding rings, and equipotential bonding layouts.

The Nano Carbon Grounding Flat Strip can be combined with nano-carbon grounding round wire, angle steel, and grounding rods to build a complete corrosion-resistant grounding system. Saint Ni Lightning Protection supplies standard and customized sizes for overseas EPC contractors, lightning protection companies, electrical contractors, and distributors.

Key Features

Stable Current Conduction

The galvanized steel core provides the main conductive path for fault currents and lightning surge currents. The surface coating mainly provides corrosion isolation and assists contact performance rather than acting as the primary current-carrying layer.

Protection for Corrosive Soil

The outer nano-carbon coating creates a protective barrier against moisture, chloride ions, acidic soil, alkaline soil, and chemical contamination. The galvanized layer provides additional corrosion protection for the steel substrate.

Flexible Grounding Layout

The flat profile is suitable for perimeter grounding rings, transverse connections, equipotential networks, and equipment grounding busbars. It can be supplied in fixed lengths or customized according to project drawings to reduce cutting and connection work at the installation site.

Project Application Case

173 MW Coastal Solar Power Plant, Philippines

The project is located about 15 km from the coast in Calatrava, Negros Province. The site has high humidity, seasonal salt fog, acidic sulfur-rich soil, and frequent thunderstorms, creating demanding conditions for buried grounding systems.

Saint Ni Lightning Protection supplied 40×4 mm material for the main grounding ring, combined with Φ14 mm nano-carbon round wire and vertical grounding rods. The Nano Carbon Grounding Flat Strips formed the perimeter network and internal equipotential connections, while equipment branches were connected to the main grid.

After 21 months of operation, third-party inspections found the buried coating intact without significant peeling or cracking, while the galvanized steel core showed no visible rust or pitting at sampled locations. Seasonal grounding resistance measurements remained stable. The standardized installation also reduced on-site cutting and connection work, shortening the overall grounding-grid construction period by approximately 25%.

Application Areas

Renewable Energy

Suitable for photovoltaic plants, energy storage facilities, wind power projects, and other large outdoor electrical installations requiring extensive grounding grids.

Power Infrastructure

Used for substations, power plants, transmission towers, equipment grounding networks, and lightning protection systems.

Corrosive Industrial Sites

Suitable for chemical plants, petrochemical facilities, saline-alkali areas, coastal sites, oil fields, and other locations where conventional buried steel may face accelerated corrosion.

Communication & Infrastructure

Applicable to 5G base stations, equipment rooms, airports, railways, and high-rise buildings requiring lightning protection and equipotential grounding.

Installation Requirements

Material Inspection

Check the dimensions, coating condition, quantity, and supporting inspection documents before installation. Damaged sections should be identified before burial.

Trench Preparation

Remove sharp stones, construction waste, and other hard objects from the grounding trench. Screened fine soil is recommended for direct contact with the coated surface.

Connection Method

At connection points, remove the surface coating to expose the galvanized steel substrate before exothermic welding or using a suitable grounding clamp. After welding, remove residue and apply suitable anti-corrosion protection to the exposed area.

Backfilling

Backfill in layers and compact progressively. Avoid directly pressing large or sharp stones against the coated conductor, especially in areas with ground movement or foundation settlement.

Technical & Supply Support

Saint Ni Lightning Protection supports standard production as well as project-based customization. Lengths, dimensions, connection arrangements, and packaging can be adjusted according to engineering drawings and project requirements.

For large overseas projects, the factory can provide supporting grounding components, technical documentation, product inspection reports, and batch supply services. Fixed-length sections can simplify installation, while larger orders can be arranged according to project schedules and container-loading requirements.

Which Material Should Be Selected?

For projects in ordinary soil with relatively low corrosion risk, hot-dip galvanized flat steel may meet basic grounding requirements. For coastal, saline-alkali, acidic, or chemically contaminated environments, the selection should consider not only initial material cost but also corrosion resistance, expected service life, installation conditions, and future maintenance.

Nano Carbon Grounding Flat Strip combines a galvanized steel structural core with an external nano-carbon anti-corrosion layer, providing a solution for projects where mechanical strength, buried corrosion protection, and overall project cost need to be considered together. The final grounding material should be selected according to soil resistivity, corrosion conditions, grounding resistance requirements, local standards, and the engineering design.

FAQ

Q1: Can it be used as the main horizontal grounding conductor?

Yes. Nano Carbon Grounding Flat Strip can be used for horizontal grounding grids, main grounding rings, equipotential connections, and equipment grounding networks. The final configuration should be designed according to the project grounding requirements and local electrical standards.

Q2: Can the size and length be customized?

Yes. Saint Ni Lightning Protection supports customized dimensions and cutting lengths for bulk engineering orders. Standard lengths can also be supplied for conventional installation.

Q3: How should damaged coating areas be treated?

Minor coating damage should be cleaned and repaired with a suitable anti-corrosion material before burial. Connection areas should be prepared according to the specified welding or clamping procedure.

Q4: Can it be connected with grounding rods and round wire?

Yes. It can be integrated with nano-carbon grounding rods, round wires, and angle steel using suitable clamps or exothermic welding to form a complete grounding network.

Q5: How should unused material be stored?

Store it in a dry, ventilated area and protect the surface from prolonged exposure to moisture, chemicals, and mechanical impact before installation.
