Brass Grounding Connector for Earthing System

Designed for threaded grounding rod extension and deep grounding applications, the Brass Grounding Connector for Earthing System uses precision-machined brass with accurate internal threads for secure rod-to-rod connections. It supports fast, hot-work-free installation and stable electrical contact, making it suitable for photovoltaic plants, substations, communication towers, industrial facilities, and high-resistivity soil projects. Saint Ni Lightning Protection supports standard and customized specifications with reliable B2B supply.

Grounding rod systems often need to extend beyond the length of a single electrode, particularly in rocky ground, desert areas and high-resistivity soil. A threaded brass connector provides a practical way to join two or more grounding rods while maintaining mechanical alignment and electrical continuity. This connection method is commonly used for deep earthing installations where modular rod sections are easier to transport and install than extra-long rods.

Saint Ni Lightning Protection manufactures precision brass grounding connectors through integrated machining and forming processes. The connector features accurately machined internal threads for secure engagement with threaded grounding rods. Its compact structure supports repeated assembly and disassembly while avoiding welding, exothermic welding powder and graphite molds. The Brass Grounding Connector for Earthing System is suitable for residential buildings, photovoltaic projects, telecom sites, industrial facilities and low-voltage electrical installations.

Designed for Reliable Rod-to-Rod Assembly

The connector body is manufactured from brass with a dense structure and precision-machined internal threads. When the two threaded grounding rods are fully engaged, the connection maintains good axial alignment and provides a continuous electrical path.

Compared with welding-based extension methods, threaded connection allows installers to assemble the grounding electrode section by section. This is particularly useful where transportation access is limited or the grounding depth exceeds the available length of a standard rod.

For deep grounding projects, the Brass Grounding Connector for Earthing System can be combined with threaded copper-clad steel rods, solid copper rods or other compatible threaded electrodes according to the project design.

Installation Without Hot Work

The installation process is based on mechanical threading rather than on-site heating or welding.

1. Clean the external threads of both grounding rods and remove burrs or oxidation.

2. Screw the upper and lower rods into the connector until the threads are fully engaged.

3. Install the driving head and continue driving the assembled rod vertically into the ground.

4. Backfill the connection area with fine soil and compact it properly.

5. Complete grounding resistance testing after the grounding grid installation.

This approach can simplify work in electrical rooms, rooftops, basements and other areas where hot-work procedures are undesirable.

Material and Connection Performance

High Electrical Conductivity

Brass provides good electrical conductivity for mechanical grounding connections and helps maintain a stable conductive path between threaded rod sections.

Accurate Internal Threads

Precision internal threading improves engagement with the external threads of the grounding rods, helping reduce cross-threading and connection misalignment.

Mechanical Stability

The dense machined structure provides resistance to normal installation loads and repeated mechanical handling.

Reusable Connection Design

Unlike permanent welded joints, threaded connectors can be removed and reused when the grounding system requires modification or extension.

Where It Fits Best

The Brass Grounding Connector for Earthing System is suitable for deep grounding projects in rock formations, hard clay, desert and other high-resistivity soils where standard grounding rods cannot reach the required depth. It can also be used for grounding systems in photovoltaic and energy storage facilities, mining areas, onshore wind farms, telecom base stations, transmission towers, industrial buildings and low-voltage electrical installations. For projects requiring extended grounding electrodes, its threaded connection design allows multiple compatible grounding rods to be assembled into a longer electrode without on-site welding.

Actual Engineering Application

40 MW Photovoltaic Deep Grounding Project in the Riyadh Desert, Saudi Arabia

The project was located in a desert area with sand and gravel formations and extremely high soil resistivity. Grounding electrodes were required to reach a depth of at least 4 m, while the available single grounding rods could not provide sufficient length.

The contractor selected Φ17.2 mm threaded copper-clad steel grounding rods and used Brass Grounding Connector for Earthing System components to join two rod sections. A drill bit was installed at the bottom and a driving head at the top. The horizontal grounding conductor used 70 mm² copper-clad steel stranded wire, while 25 mm² yellow-green insulated copper stranded wire was used for the above-ground down conductor.

The threaded sections were cleaned before assembly and fully engaged with the brass sleeve. The assembled electrode was then driven vertically into the ground, followed by fine-soil backfilling and compaction around the connection area.

After three years of operation, the threaded connections showed no significant corrosion, while grounding resistance remained stable and within the required limits. The modular structure also simplified transportation and on-site assembly, making the solution suitable for remote desert photovoltaic facilities.

Technical Questions Buyers Usually Ask

Can two grounding rods be connected securely?

Yes. The internal threads are designed to engage with the corresponding external threads of compatible grounding rods. Proper thread engagement and tightening are essential for mechanical stability and electrical continuity.

Can it be used for deep grounding?

Yes. The main purpose of this type of connector is to extend threaded grounding rods section by section, allowing the grounding electrode to reach greater depths.

Does installation require welding?

No. The connection itself is mechanically threaded. This eliminates the need for welding equipment, exothermic welding powder and graphite molds during rod extension.

Can it be buried underground?

The suitability of direct burial depends on the brass grade, soil chemistry and required service life. In aggressive alkaline, saline or chemical soils, additional corrosion protection should be considered.

What grounding rods can be matched?

It can be manufactured to match different threaded rod diameters and thread specifications. Saint Ni Lightning Protection can provide standard sizes or customized dimensions according to the grounding rod drawing.
