The Active Early Streamer Emission Lightning Rod uses a passive physical structure and does not require an external power supply. Working Principle

Electric Field Response

Before a lightning discharge occurs, a thundercloud produces a strong electric field around the protected structure. The terminal detects the change through its physical electrode structure. As the electric field intensifies, the terminal promotes local air ionization around its upper electrodes.

Upward Streamer

The ionized region develops into an upward streamer. With the 60 μs early streamer emission configuration, the upward discharge path is initiated earlier than the reference condition used for conventional interception calculations. This gives the terminal a greater opportunity to connect with the approaching downward leader.

Lightning Conduction

When the upward and downward leaders connect, the lightning current is intercepted by the terminal and transferred through the down conductor to the grounding network.
