Actual Engineering Application Case

Offshore 110 kV Energy Storage Collection Station Grounding Retrofit Project

The project site was located 600 meters from the coastline and was exposed to year-round typhoons and high salt fog. Soil salinity exceeded the required level, while the circulating water area contained mildly acidic or alkaline media. The switchgear room and offshore platform were designated as fire-restricted areas, with a design service life of 30 years.

Straight joints used straight aluminum-bronze clamps, cross branches used cross-shaped aluminum-bronze clamps, and vertical grounding rods were connected with U-shaped clamps. Outdoor buried joints received two layers of anti-corrosive conductive paste and waterproof tape. Installation was completed with standard torque wrenches without hot work.

More than 3,800 grounding connections were installed. Third-party testing confirmed stable grounding resistance across the station. After six years of operation, annual inspections found no corrosion holes or thread oxidation, while grounding resistance remained stable. During typhoons and thunderstorms, fault-current dissipation remained stable, with no reported lightning damage to electrical equipment.
