Insulated Copper Stranded Wire Yellow Green

Saint Ni Lightning Protection Insulated Copper Stranded Wire Yellow Green is designed primarily for the above-ground connection section between grounding electrodes and electrical equipment. Unlike bare copper grounding conductors that are installed for direct current dissipation, this product functions as a protected transition conductor after the grounding electrode exits the ground.

The conductor uses high-purity oxygen-free copper with a flexible multi-strand construction, while the outer yellow-green insulation provides physical separation from surrounding metal structures. The standardized yellow-green identification also allows grounding conductors to be distinguished from power and control cables during installation and maintenance. Saint Ni Lightning Protection Insulated Copper Stranded Wire Yellow Green supports fixed-length cutting, pre-installed copper lugs, and flame-retardant insulation customization for different project requirements.

Above-Ground Grounding Connection

Designed for Grounding Electrode Transitions

The grounding electrode is responsible for conducting current into the soil, while Insulated Copper Stranded Wire Yellow Green provides the connection from the electrode's exposed upper section to the protected equipment. This distinction helps contractors select the correct conductor for each part of a complete grounding system.

Yellow-Green Identification

The yellow-green insulation provides an immediately recognizable protective-earth identification. During construction, inspection, and future maintenance, electricians can quickly distinguish grounding connections from power conductors, helping reduce wiring errors and improving system organization.

Flexible Routing Around Equipment

The fine-strand copper construction allows the cable to bend around equipment frames, mounting structures, cable routes, and grounding electrode connections. This is particularly useful for photovoltaic, wind power, energy storage, and industrial installations where grounding points are distributed across the equipment layout.

Insulation Protection

Protection for Exposed Copper Sections

The insulation separates the copper conductor from moisture, dust, accidental contact, and nearby metallic components during the above-ground installation. This makes it particularly suitable for exposed connection routes where a bare conductor could be more vulnerable to physical contact or environmental contamination.

Suitable for Outdoor Equipment

For photovoltaic plants, wind farms, substations, and industrial equipment installed outdoors, the insulated construction provides an additional layer of protection around the conductor. Saint Ni Lightning Protection can also provide suitable insulation options according to required installation conditions.

Pre-Terminated Options

To simplify project installation, Saint Ni Lightning Protection supports customized lengths and factory-installed copper lugs. Contractors can receive pre-cut conductors according to the required connection distance, reducing field preparation and improving installation consistency.

Connection Methods

Copper Lug Connection

At equipment terminals and grounding electrode connection points, the insulation can be stripped to the required length and fitted with a suitable copper lug. The terminal can then be secured using bolts or compatible connection hardware.

Clamp Connection

Grounding clamps can be selected where the project requires a mechanical connection. This approach is convenient for grounding electrodes, equipment frames, and other accessible grounding points.

Exposed Connection Treatment

After stripping the insulation, the exposed copper section should be properly prepared before connection. Anti-oxidation compound can be applied where required, particularly for outdoor installations or environments with higher moisture exposure.

Application Areas

FAQ

Q1: Can it replace a buried grounding electrode?

No. Insulated Copper Stranded Wire Yellow Green is mainly used as the above-ground connection conductor. It should be connected to a properly designed grounding electrode or grounding network rather than used as a substitute for the buried electrode.

Q2: Can the insulation be stripped during installation?

Yes. The insulation should be stripped only at the required connection area, leaving the remaining conductor protected.

Q3: Can you customize the cable length?

Yes. Saint Ni Lightning Protection supports fixed-length cutting and can prepare different lengths according to project requirements.

Q4: Can copper lugs be installed before shipment?

Yes. Pre-installed copper lugs are available to reduce on-site stripping, crimping, and preparation work.

Q5: Is the yellow-green color important?

Yes. Yellow-green is widely used to identify protective-earth conductors, allowing installers and maintenance personnel to distinguish grounding conductors from power and control wiring.

Real Project Case

48 MW Coastal Photovoltaic Comprehensive Lightning Protection Project in Binh Thuan, Vietnam

The project was located in a coastal area with high soil salinity. The underground grounding network used Φ20 knurled rare-earth alloy nano-carbon grounding rods and Φ12 nano-carbon round wire. Local electrical requirements specified insulated yellow-green grounding wire for the upward lead-out section of grounding electrodes. The general contractor selected 25 mm² Insulated Copper Stranded Wire Yellow Green for the grounding electrode connections throughout the photovoltaic plant.

The underground grounding grid used rare-earth alloy nano-carbon profiles, while each vertical grounding electrode was connected to the transformer and inverter equipment using 25 mm² tinned yellow-green insulated copper stranded wire. The grounding rod connection areas were prepared before installation, and the cable ends were fitted with tinned copper lugs and secured with bolts.

The cables were routed neatly along the mounting structures and kept away from sharp metal edges. All grounding lead-out cables used consistent yellow-green identification and were separated from power cables. Equipment enclosure grounding resistance was retested annually.

After three years of operation, the above-ground lead-out cables showed no insulation cracking and the copper conductors showed no obvious oxidation. No lightning-related equipment damage occurred during the thunderstorm seasons. The standardized yellow-green grounding identification also helped the project pass its acceptance inspection, providing a practical grounding connection solution for coastal photovoltaic installations.

Product Selection and Customization

Saint Ni Lightning Protection yellow-green insulated copper stranded wire can be configured according to the installation position, connection method, and environmental conditions of the grounding system. The conductor cross-sectional area, cable length, insulation performance, and terminal connection method can all be customized according to project requirements. It is suitable for grounding electrode lead-outs, equipment protective grounding, and equipotential bonding.

For photovoltaic, wind power, energy storage, telecommunications base station, and industrial building projects, cable lengths can be determined in advance based on the grounding electrode position and equipment installation height, reducing on-site cutting and the number of joints. The product can also be supplied with pre-installed copper lugs, custom lengths, and flame-retardant insulation, making it convenient for standardized installation and bulk construction on overseas projects.
